We have a new beta of the Facebook app for you to try. This new release has a revamped photo area. Now you can view tags on photos, like photos, and add new tags yourself right from the app. Just tap.
We also have a fix for an issue with photo access. As always, the beta app isn’t tested as much as the production stable builds…. but this is where you come in. Help us test it out and give us feedback!
If you want to know some of the details on how we implemented the new tagging interface, read Kevin Decker’s writeup which includes position, box-flex, and more.

It appears that I’m no longer able to read the comments people leave under statuses. The “accordion” expands properly, but there is no content to be seen.
the photo area is very much improved. And the overlay effect when tagging is very clean and crisp! nice work.
I’m not having any more luck with photo access with this version. In previous versions, certain users’ photos would never switch to high rez or their photo albums wouldn’t ever load. In this version, I’m now getting an error for the same problem users (“This user’s albums cannot be displayed here”). When photos load, the new Tagging system really is nicely implemented. Can you share with us what it is about certain users that make their photo albums inaccessible in the facebook app? Seems like it afflicts about a 3rd of my friends.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE add an option to “not refresh and jump to top of feed” when you go back to the App. I hate it when I click on a link from the App, it takes me to the browser, and then when I switch back to the Facebook App, it refreshes and jumps me to the top of the feed! It’s so frustrating!
thanks for all your hard work!
can’t take off tags I have placed

Amazing, I never knew of the Flexible Box Model until tonight. This article is so much more valuable than a bunch of Safari-only demos.
The facebook app should display all the information/notifications that I can see it on a browser and not just the posts. For example, a friend of mine became friends with somebody else. etc. I can see this via the desktop browser access. I can’t see it thru the FB app. Because of this I still have to access FB thru desktop just so that I don’t miss such notifications. I don’t want to do that. Make sure the App is such that I never need (at least most of the time) to access FB via desktop. Thanks
