Two questions:

1. Has anyone tried working with Eclipse 3.5 (rather than the recommended 3.4.2)? Does it work with the plugins, etc?

2. On OSX, is there a reason to favor the Carbon builds of Eclipse rather than the Cocoa builds? [The instructions link to Carbon 3.4.2.]

1. Yes. I installed the plugin on Eclipse 3.5. Able to create a project and scene, compile, and run on simulator okay.
I haven't tried debugging though.

2. You might find useful on Carbon or Cocoa elsewhere.

I started out following the instructions, but everything Palm's recommending is out of date at this point, and using Eclipse 3.4 was about to drive me to the brink.

The whole kit and caboodle works fine with Eclipse 3.5, Aptana 1.5, and VirtualBox 3.0.2.

For current Aptana, use this URL instead: http://update.aptana.com/install/studio
For current VirtualBox, you can grab OS X or Windows binaries.

While newer versions probably will work fine, Palm has only had time to formally test with certain older versions. VirtualBox 2.2.4 is only 2 months out of date anyway. I'd rather go with a "known" good version than risk having an issue introduced by a newer untested (by Palm) version.

VirtualBox 3 is supposed to be completely backward-compatible and the stability and performance upgrades were worth the risk to me. Obviously not everyone's cup of tea, but I didn't see any harm in trying.

Nope, and didn't mean to imply any criticism. Just explaining why they're listing the older versions on their download page.
